Lynx and Lola snuggling on the futon in our office! Silly animals!

Columbus Zoo Trip

On Saturday, Doug and I had a fun trip at the zoo! Wanted to quickly share this funny picture of the cutest gorilla! He was just lounging watching us while we were staring at him! Too funny!

Joey Adelyn Burroughs

Beth and Jim had their 3rd child on July 17th, 2009 by c-section around 1:30pm. Joey is such a beautiful baby girl! She looks a lot like Beth! Both mom and baby are doing great! Joey was awake and alert the whole time we were holding her! She then proceeded to need a stinky diaper change while Doug was holding her :) Gotta love babies!!

Doug's Graduation Party

Doug's family threw him a wonderful graduation party! It was outside on a perfect day! It started out raining and we were afraid that the rain would continue but it dried up and made for a wonderful evening! The decorations were so good!! Food was amazing!!! And the company was great too! All our favorite people showed up to celebrate Doug's success! Thanks to everyone who came and made the day special! We are thankful for such wonderful family and friends :)

Back at it :)

Well, we are back at it again! After our nice vacation and me taking an extra week of TLC, we are back at working and classes (for me). Doug is enjoying his job working 40 hrs. He's been working the front desk training there and such. He seems to really like it. Says that the days go back faster!!! I'm working MWF at the Dr's office and classes on Tuesday and Thursday. No clinical this 8 weeks. Just evidence-based research. Fun Fun! That translates to a bunch of writing and papers! But I could really use a break from all the reading and clinicals. We're at the 7 month countdown mark. March will be here before we know it! Then I'll officially be Ashlie Barker RN BSN!!! Or nurse Ash as some of you call me :) Hope everyone else's week is going great!!!

Barker's 4th of July Cook-Out

We had a great cook-out at Doug and Kate's celebrating the 4th of July! It ended up being a party celebrating Adelyn's cuteness *lol* She was the highlight of the show! The boys and kids played badminton while the girls all fought over Adelyn! :) She's 9 days old today. There was great food, games, and pool fun while the weather was perfect! Couldn't ask for a more perfect day! So thankful for such wonderful family and friends!!!

Virginia is for Lovers

Doug, Wesley and I had a great trip to Virginia to visit Rick and Bre. They live in Chesapeake, VA and is about 20 minutes from the ocean. We had a wonderful time :) We went to see Cape Henry Lighthouse for mom. That was a fun experience *lol* We ended up having to go onto an active naval base. So we had to get out of our car so they could inspect it before we could see the lighthouses. They actually had 2 lighthouses on the base. Old Cape Henry and the New Cape Henry. We also went to see botanical gardens to take some beautiful picture of the flowers there. It was a hot hot day so we started on a boat tour first. That was neat. We got to see 2 bald eagles and lots of turtles. We ate lunch at their little cafe and then walked around on foot some. They had the neatest rose area. Beautiful! Then, of course, we had some much needed beach time!!! We went to Sandbridge beach which was about a 40 minute drive. The beach was so nice. Reminded me a lot like SC. It wasn't as touristy like the boardwalk would have been. We got to see many crabs running on the beach. We fed them bbq baked lays! It was funny trying to watch them drag it back into their hole. We also saw dolphins on our last beach day! There were so many! It was neat to see! However, we both got a little toasty b/c I think our sunblock went on vacation too. I swear, it didn't protect us at all! So, we had to go every other day to the beach so we wouldn't be in too much pain. In the evenings, we spent time with Rick and Bre. They were kind enough to grill out most nights! We also went to dinner at a seafood place the first night. On Saturday, our last day, we went sight seeing. We headed to Portsmouth were we saw the Proposal at the Commodore theater. It's an old time theater where you can order food and watch a movie. Then we took the ferry over to Norfolk where we walked around a bit then had dinner at an Italian Restaurant called Amore. It was delicious! We had a wonderful time in Virginia and cannot wait to go back!

Just a little hello!

Hey everyone! I thought about doing a sort of blog to update family and friends about our lives since facebook and myspace are so public. We don't want our lives being shown to the world. We thought we could do this in a more private manner just for our friends and families! Hope you enjoy!
