Iris in the big girl tub

We tried iris in the big girl tub on Sunday and she pretty much hated every minute of it. I'm not sure if it was because it was too close to bed time or us saying "no" when she wanted to stand but my baby girl threw the biggest fit. We'll try it again tonight and see. Maybe she feels unsafe??? She normally loves her baths so much!

In the picture, she pretty much stopped screaming as I took the shot haha

Whatever it is, eeyore will protect her!

Nice winter walk

Today has been a bit warmer for January! Like 52 degrees!!! Woohoo!

Iris and I went to baby lap time at the library this morning then after her nap, we went on a windy walk before it started pouring rain! It was nice to stretch our legs and get a dose of vitamin D even if it was for a quick trip!

Silly with a touch of scary!

This is Iris's new cheesy smile! She is so silly =)

Happy 9 Months Iris

I swear, I will eventually make this post on the 4th =)  But it works out because there is so much to say about all your accomplishments each month so it's probably better to make it towards the end of the month instead of the beginning =)  (my excuse anyways!!)

9 Months old!!!

Stats:  We had your 9 month check up on the 10th and you are growing so much!!!  We do a delayed shot schedule so you got your first Hepatitis B shot at this visit as well!
Weight:  17 lbs 6.5 oz (22.63%)
Height:  2 feet and 2 inches!!  (6.79%)  I think you dropped a little in your height
Head:  45 cm  (77.39%)  The biggest part of you!  It has to hold your beautiful smart brain!!

Clothes:  You have been definitely going through clothes much faster now.  You are in mainly 9 month clothes now and have washed and am going to start putting you in your 12 month outfits.  Some things do not fit due to your big diapers and maybe they shrink in the dryer?!?  That's momma's excuse for her clothes sometimes haha

You are in stage 3 disposable diapers (when we need them) and still in your one-size bum genius!  Your momma loves your cloth diapers =)  They work perfectly for us!!!

Food:  We have changed your routine a bit this month and have you nursing 4 times a day for getting 3 bottles and nurse 1 time on the days I work.  We moved you to getting milk every 4 hrs instead of every 3 and your new milk times are 8am (7 am if I work), 12pm, 4pm, 8pm.  It seemed to be a very easy transition for you and seems to fit better with your sleep schedule.  You are also not nursing in the middle of the night anymore!!!  Woohoo!

having breakfast with dad

You are eating 3 meals a day as well!  You eat breakfast (usually  organic baby oatmeal with organic yogurt or fruit) around 8:30am.  You eat lunch (fruit and veggies) between 1 and 2pm, then dinner (fruit and veggies) around 6pm.  We have not introduced any meats yet.  Not sure when we will do that?!?  We also bought the cutest and tiniest star pasta and have put some in your veggies to give it texture.  You seem to do well with it!

Your favorite foods are all the fruits, yogurt, butternut squash, and acorn squash!

Sleep:  You are finally sleeping through the night!!!  Most nights anyways.  If you do wake up, it's because you have lost your paci and I just give it back to you and you go back to sleep.  I try to keep at least 2 in your crib haha  We have completely weaned you of your middle of the night nursings and it has been so nice to get a nice few hours of sleep again!!!

You go to bed between 7:30 and 8pm and wake up around 7:30 am!!!  You are so cute when you sleep!!!  You have started rolling over the last few weeks and now sleep on your belly!  When you wake up, we usually find you sitting up in your crib or standing up on the side of your crib!!!

For naps, you nap around 10 am for about 1.5 hrs and then again around 2pm for another 1.5 hrs!

Activities:  You crawl so well now!  As I am typing this post, you are chasing balls all over the living room haha  You started doing the army crawl but you are crawling up on your knees now and are pulling yourself up on everything!!!  I think you will be walking before you get your first tooth! =)  You also love baby lap time at the library on Mondays and all the songs we sing!!!

notice dadda behind you to make sure you don't fall =)

dadda caught you pulling yourself up on the bar stools!

You were crawling over to the tv!

It has been so much fun watching you crawl all over.  It's funny when you follow us around the house!  We have began to put gates up to keep you away from the stairs!  Have to keep the baby safe!

We also took you to Firefly Cafe to play.  You were still a bit small but you enjoyed watching the other kids play around you.  A little girl came up to you while you were playing with the ball thingy (in the picture) and you got the biggest smile on your face!!

Likes:  Crawling all over, playing with Wesley's crate even though you are not supposed to!  You also enjoy momma's work bags b/c of the straps on them and trying to climb in your car seat.  You are so silly!  You also enjoy pushing your car back and forth in the living room and playing with your ball popper.  Your monkey, Chuck, and Sophie the giraffe are your favorites and they go everywhere with you!!!

You also LOVE barney.  I tried my hardest to not let you watch tv but I started putting the tv on PBS and you have enjoyed cat and the hat, word world, and now Barney is your favorite. You only sit and watch it for a few seconds but you get the biggest grin on your face and dance when the songs come on.  CUTEST.THING.EVER!!!

Dislikes:  You do not like loud noises and do not like being scared!!!  You also HATE peas, potatoes and egg plant.  I think egg plant dislikes you as well b/c both times you tried it, you ended up with a very painful diaper rash.  No more egg plant for you!!!  You also hate being told no and being taken away from what you were enjoying.

Words:  "dadda" and "momma" are still very popular.  You also make the "na, ba" sounds and have made raspberries with your mouth.  You also make the "pa" sound and blow out your mouth.

Signs:  You can sign "more" =)

Personality:  This picture pretty much sums it up.  You are the happiest baby and you are such a joy.  You are always laughing and being rotten.  You still give the worlds best hugs and also give kisses!!!  I love it when I pick you up and you snuggle up close and hug me!  So sweet!  I try to savor every moment with you.  I have over 1800 pictures of you on my phone and I enjoy flipping through them and seeing how much you have grown.  I'm sad you are not itty bitty any more but I am enjoying your movement stage now and am anxious for you to run and play outside this summer!!!!

I am so lucky to be your momma!!! =)

Getting into mischief

This is what I found iris doing this morning. I was sitting in the living room with her and watched her crawl over and climb up and tried to help herself with her toys!

Sleeping...THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!

This is the face of a baby girl that is sleeping through the night!!!!

After getting the "ok" from our pediatrician to start skipping our night feedings, we tried weaning her and we have been doing well!!!

Iris goes down for bed between 7:30 and 8pm and gets up around 7:45am!!!!
(6:15am 2 days a week when she has to go to the baby sitters)

We tried the modified cry-it-out method where she just had to fuss a little.  We never let her get to a horrible cry.  She would fuss and we would go in after 5 min, kiss her, rub her belly, and say good night (never picking her up) and wait and go back in after 10 minutes. then 15 minutes.  We had to do that only 2 nights for no longer than 20 minutes and she now sleeps through the night!

It has been wonderful =)
It's been almost 2 weeks and we're going strong!!!

I am to the point now where I nurse her then just lay her directly in her crib without her being fast asleep. I kiss her, say sweet dreams and she soothes her self to sleep without a peep out of her. I have also been doing this with her naps as well!
