Baby update

Doug and I went to our 24 week appointment (2 weeks later due to the holidays and my crazy work schedule) yesterday!  I'm now 26 weeks!  My OB had just left to deliver a baby so we met with the nurse again!  She did the doppler on my belly and the heart rate was 140!  Perfect!

I also did my glucose tolerace test and had my blood drawn for that and to check my hemoglobin.  Anemia is high during this stage in my pregnancy.  I got the results today and everything came back normal!  yeah!!!!  Iris and momma are doing great!  I'm so thankful for a great pregnancy minus all the morning sickness in the beginning but I'll take that any day knowing that she's growing and staying healthy!

I go back in 2 weeks on Jan. 10th for my big RHO Gam shot in my booty since I'm O-!  Oh joy!  Wish I could skip that one but it's to protect my future babies if baby Iris is +.  If I get her blood mixed with mine during delivery, I'll make antibodies to fight off the next pregnancy.  We're not sure what blood type Doug is yet but they will give me this shot anyways.  If Iris is + at birth, then I'll get another shot.  Not fair!!!

Then in 4 weeks, I'll go for my last monthly appointment!  I'll be 30 weeks and I'll begin going to appointments every 2 weeks!  My how fast this pregnancy has gone!

Iris has been so busy lately!  She has been doing disco dance party in my belly and Doug has had plenty of opportunities to feel her.  The other morning, I had him feel her and then layed belly to belly so she could kick him some =)  I'm sure it's because of all the sweets that I have been eating and I'm actually quite shocked that I passed my glucose tolerance test *lol*  I also have FINALLY gained some weight!  I'm 6 lbs passed my first OB appointment!!!

So, things are looking good for Iris and momma!  We also think that we picked a middle name =)

Christmas 2010

Doug and I had a wonderful Christmas and feel so lucky and so loved!  Baby Iris was spoiled this holiday season and she's not even here yet! =)  We asked everyone to buy for her since we need so many things and that is what most everyone did!  We did get a few wonderful gifts for us (me, my new roaster!!!  Woohoo) but mainly, cute adorable outfits, toys, etc for baby Iris!

Thank you everyone!!!!  We truly appreciate it!

We started out the celebration with spending Christmas Eve with the Barker's!  It was so much fun!  We had just the immediate family members this time so it was nice to all sit at one table and have dinner together by passing all the food down!  What a wonderful idea Kate!

We should definitely do that again next year!

But I think we ate so much and so quickly so we could get to the presents *lol*
All the food was amazing like always!

Then we opened presents starting with the youngest first all the way to the oldest.  We have done that for a few years now and it's nice b/c it gives everyone an opportunity to see what each person got!

Doug even got kisses from Addy =)

Afterwards, we cleaned up and we all went our separate ways to get ready for Christmas morning!

Thanks to Doug's parents, we were able to spend the night so we didn't have to drive back and forth from Columbus so much.

Christmas morning, we got ready and had breakfast at Abbey's and go to see everyone's presents!
Addy got a ball pit!  So jealous =)

Then we packed up the gifts and headed to my mom's for breakfast #2 (yum!!!  I ate like a pig).  We exchanged our gifts and hung out until it was time to go to my grandma's so I can see my extended side of the family!  Here Iris was just as spoiled =)  Mom and Steve bought her the cutest wooden rocking horse and the pinkest stroller you can imagine!  She also got her first baby doll and some clothes!

Thanks so much!

At grandma's we ate some more and visited with everyone!

What fun!

Afterwards, we loaded up all the gifts and the pups and headed back to Columbus!  Doug and I exchanged gifts that night and had a movie night!  We were both so exhausted from all the events that it was so nice to be back home!  Sadly, Doug and I both knew what we got each other *lol*  But he did surprise me with 2 gifts that I didn't know about.  He got me Despicable Me (hysterical movie!) and the prettiest silver earrings from one of my favorite little boutiques in Upper Arlington!  I surprised him with a calendar that I make every year!  Among those gifts, we each got some clothes, socks, and a few other small things.  We spent most of our money on the nursery and baby this year =)

This will be our last year as a family of 2!
Next year, we'll have a little one with us and it will be so much fun!
This was also the last year for the dogs to travel with us!  There just isn't enough room for everything once the baby comes haha

**and a shocking alert**
As I was looking through all the pictures, Doug and I didn't even get a picture together!
There must have been something wrong with me =)

Thanks again everyone for making this holiday special!
And a special thanks to Doug for being a wonderful and good husband all year long!
Love you all!

The Barker Girl's Baking Day!

A big THANKS to my SIL, Abbey, for allowing us to use and dirty her kitchen so we could all bake Christmas goodies!  It was so much fun and nice to have some buddies to bake with!  I think next time, I'll try not to plan as much so I don't hog her stove the whole day *lol*

I came home with about 6-7 dozen cookies (red raspberry chocolate thumbprints and molasses cookies), peanut butter fudge, and buckeyes!  Thankfully about half is going to Doug's work, my work, neighbors, and the rest to family next weekend!

Shannon and I making fudge

All of us girls hard at work!

Too bad we weren't smart and got an actual group shot haha

Afterwards, we had more appetizers then opened our gifts from Faye and did our white elephant gifts!
Thanks to nana Faye, Iris has the cutest little Easter outfit and an adorable little newborn outfit perfect for spring!

Afterwards, we played Christmas bingo and had fun winning prizes!

24 weeks!

We are beginning our 25th week today!  Can't believe I'm this far along already!  My pregnancy is going so fast and we are both so excited and getting a little nervous! =)

The progress on the nursery is going great!  Painting took a bit longer than Doug had hoped for.  I guess trying to buy environmentally safe paint at a lower cost was probably not the best option haha After 3 coats of Olympic paint, he ended up having to go back and buy the more expensive Valspar and was able to cover the green in 1 coat!

Doug's dad came up on Saturday and they put the flooring down and it looks amazing!  I can't wait to take pictures and post them.  The trim still needs cut, painted and layed so I'll post pictures of the yellow walls and new wood flooring afterwards!  So excited!  Then building all the furniture will begin and finding places for all of her little clothes, etc.  I can't wait to start filling up her nursery!

Here's a 24 week picture from Friday.  It was at our annual holiday party at the Dr's office I work for occasionally.

Celebrating 4 Years of Bliss!

4 years ago today, Doug and I were in Jamaica living it up!  The weather was perfect as we were getting ready for our wedding!  The day began with a yummy breakfast then I went for my salty margarita scrub (not as nice as it sounds *lol*  It was a little painful as she scrubbed all my skin off haha).

After that, I met up with Doug and his parents on the beach and soaked up some sun!

Afterwards, I went to the salon and got my nails and hair done!  Next, putting on the dress and getting everything ready!

Around 3:15pm, I was ready to walk down the isle!

It was so beautiful being married on the beach!  It was slightly windy but a perfect day!  We had a string quartet playing as we said our vows!  Simply magical!

Afterwards, we took about 400+ pictures (no joke!)

and then changed to have dinner!

It was truly a day we will never forget!  I married my best friend and am truly the happiest girl ever!  These 4 years have flown by and it gives my heart a little skip knowing that next year, we'll be celebrating our big 5th anniversary with the baby!!!

I love you Doug!
