38 weeks

I'm a little late on the picture for 38 weeks so here we go!

These were taken yesterday before work!

We are 8 days away from our due date today!
We will be 39 weeks tomorrow and have our 39 week OB appointment on Friday!  We will see if I have progressed more than 1 cm and then figure out our game plan!  I would love to have great news that I'm dilated more but we'll have to wait and see!

I have been feeling good!  Aches and pains are to be expected and some days are better than others!  No more contractions since last tuesday but I do have a lot of braxton hicks!  Yesterday at work, I was getting some "pains" that were sending me cold chills so I'm hoping that means she's dropping!  On Sunday, after coming back from visiting the in-laws for birthday celebrations, my feet swelled up like 2 stuffed pigs!  The last few times we went home, I noticed my feet would swell but this time was the worst!  They were so huge and hurt.  I could actually feel them swelling in the car.  I think it's from sitting for so long with my feet dangling  (dependent edema)!  I propped them up on pillows the rest of the night and Doug massaged them for me.  I drank a lot of decaf sweet tea when I got home to "pull" the fluid off (diuretic help from tea).  So, I peed the whole night and woke up with  normal feet in the morning!  haha  So, probably no more long car rides until she's here!

We're just so anxious to meet her!  I'm running out of things to do with my free time.  I cleaned the house already this week, all her laundry is washed, the bags are packed as much as they can be at this point.  We have just a few more small things to buy and will do that on Friday after Doug gets off!

So, we're left with waiting for Iris to arrive =)

You have dirty ears! Let me help you!

Lynx is so goofy!  He loves to clean lola and lay with her!
However, lola doesn't like it and is sometimes scared of the white devil =)

But today, she let him clean out her ears a bit!

Silly pets!

38 week OB appointment

Doug and I had our 38 week OB appointment yesterday!  It went...ok!  haha I was hoping for more news but was sad that she didn't tell me what I wanted!  We met with the other OB, Dr. Turner, since Dr. Pool is on vacation.  She is super nice and she was very helpful on Tuesday when I called with the contractions.  We were both very optimistic with hoping that the contractions had changed my cervix or dilated me more but sadly, I'm still 1 cm dilated but the contractions DID soften my cervix some but still not effaced at all!  boo!!!

Dr. Turner was very excited for us and thought that what I did experience on Tuesday was actual contractions (no duh lady! hehe) and she thinks that is a great sign that I might go into labor on my own and not need help with induction, etc.  So, I was pleased with that!!!!  She does think we have another week or so to go but I could go early...time will tell!

She said that at our next appointment (next Friday), we should make a plan to see if we should wait a little longer until I go on my own or think about inducing.  I'll be 39 weeks next Friday at our appointment so I hope I'm dilated more (or maybe already have the baby) and we can get this party started =)  As much as I love being pregnant and feeling her move and knowing she's safe inside of me, I'm so gosh darn eager to meet her!  We have just about everything we can think of for her so we're just waiting!

I worked yesterday and woke up with braxton hicks (tightening and burning feeling) in the middle of the night but no actual contractions.  I work today and tomorrow so hopefully being on my feet so much will bring on some contractions!  We'll see!

I also have my baby shower (#4) at work tomorrow night so I'm pretty excited for that!

Contractions ?!?

Yesterday was an eventful day to say the least =)

I started experiencing contractions and boy were they not nice to me!!!!  They started at 5:03am and after 2 contractions, I woke Doug up.  They were not super intense but were uncomfortable so I decided to wake him so he could help me relax!  He snuggled close and grabbed my hand and held it through them =)  His alarm went off and he began to get ready for work.  About that time, they were coming very strong and in clusters of 3 (each about a minute apart) and the third would be so intense that I started vomiting afterwards.  I would have another then they would subside for about 15-20 minutes and a new round would begin!

At 8am I finally called the doctor to see what we should do.  They were not very "regular" and were not the 5 minutes apart like they said they should be to go to the hospital.  The clusters would be every minute but then they would stop for 15-20 minutes so I felt they were still pretty irregular.  The OB said to relax and drink lots of fluids (since I was puking) and try to eat something to see if they subside.  I figured, that was a good plan!

Finally, it was time for Doug to leave for work.  I figured I would be fine so I let him leave only to call him back when he was almost there.  They started back up again and I called him crying and he came rushing back *lol*

I had about 2 more rounds of horrible contractions and then they finally started to slow down to every hour and we were both finally able to relax and get a nap in.

Finally, around noon, they were pretty calm so I let him go back to work!  And they pretty much came and went every hour or so but nothing as bad as the morning!

Dang it!

We were hoping this was it and the baby would be here but apparently, she was just testing the waters!

After Doug got home from work, we took a nice long walk to hopefully help "induce" more contractions but it didn't work!  I had 2 in the middle of the night and a slight one this morning but nothing to stop me in my tracks!

We have our weekly OB appointment tomorrow morning so we'll see if I'm dilated more or if my cervix has thinned!

We're getting closer =)
38 weeks tomorrow!

37 weeks!

Doug and I had our 37 week OB appointment on Friday!  It went well!  I gained another pound so we're at a grand total of...15 lbs!!!  Woohoo! =)  We are still 1 cm dilated and I thought for sure I was more since I worked 16 hrs on Monday but nope!  Iris is slowly dropping and she could feel the head this time!!!  The heart rate was in the 130's and we're both doing great!  I have been noticing a little swelling in my feet lately and have been scolded by my OB to not do any more 16 hr shifts...oops!  So, I guess no more overtime for me until after the baby is born!

Afterwards, Doug took the afternoon off and we had lunch at Steak'n shake and hit up Baby'R Us to return our bent baby gate for the nursery and found a taller one to keep lynx out.  I found the little jerk sleeping in the crib that morning!!!  I freaked out and yelled at him...grrr!  I had just washed the sheets and pads and now have to wash everything again!  Anyone want a cat?!? =)  I had removed the bumper from the crib and I think he was finally able to see inside and then jumped in!

The taller gate has not kept him out of the nursery to date so the crib is now full of bubble wrap and foil (heard cats hate the feel of foil).

We also bought a diaper champ and some burp cloths!  Just about have everything we need!!!

Afterwards, we napped (of course!) and then tackled her closet!  We found homes for all her gifts and organized everything!  The nursery is set!

Here's some 37 week belly shots!
Starting to look more torpedo like haha

Come on out Iris!
We're anxious to meet you!
