Life lately

So I survived my first week as a L&D nurse!!! It went well but there is so much to know! I helped deliver a baby my first night!! The 2nd night I labored a mom to 10 cm before my shift ended. Thursday I followed around a nurse anesthesist and watched her insert a million epidurals and spinals for surgery. Friday I assisted with c-sections all day! I loved it but I swear my head was spinning by the end of the week!!! I get so anxious because I want to know how to do everything already!!! This is the hardest part for me...waiting to get comfortable in my shoes!!

My co-workers have been great and I have a great preceptor! The managers seem to be super nice and helpful as well!!

So, this week will be 3-12 hr shifts in a row! Hoping to experience a lot!

As for sleeping, having a baby has helped condition me for night shift =). I nap when she does and the mornings I get off, Doug takes her to the sitters so I get a good 4 hr stretch! I'm droggy for sure but I push on! We'll find a good rhythm with it all! This week will be tricky with 3 days in a row and Tuesday Doug has another endoscopy and will have his throat stretched! (He had one done 2 weeks ago and found severe narrowing of his esophagus). So I will work that night until 5 am, run home and take iris to the sitters by 6 am and get Doug to osu by 6:30 am. After his procedure I will sleep then back to work that night! Hoping everything goes well and Doug recovers better this time! He was very nauseated and sleepy! Poor thing! Should be an interesting week!

Anywho, this weekend was a celebration for surviving my first week and just spending quality time together!! We played and had fun all weekend! That's the plus with orientation...I don't have to work weekends so I will be enjoying our little family time =)

Here's a picture from Friday night! We ordered take-out from bravo, we ate in our pjs and had dessert too and watched Babe!! Iris was saying "I like chocolate!!!" Haha
